One thing I continually think of when I consider in the Britain vs. Europe rivalry. Britain has survived against the -- I'll call a duck a duck just as Churchill would have -- evil influences of Europe solely because of their intense rivalry with them.  Britain has always emphasized keeping a "Balance of Powers" on the Continent (true, that equates to "No one more powerful than us!" but I digress...) what happens when that Balance is upset?  It's being fast turned now and I think Britain is facing a renewed 711 AD.  And I doubt we can count on the French quite as readily, as (though he shows potential) Sarcozy is no Charles Martel. In short, I hope that Britain keeps her hard-fought independence and battle-tested stubborness else I foresee a united Europe that ceases to be center of Western Civilization.
